Simple Rectifier
Purpose
A large vintage vacuum tube rectifier of the type used in battery chargers illustrates thermionic emission and one-way current flow. The clear glass envelope makes the filament (cathode) and plate (anode) easily identifiable, providing a tangible introduction to diode operation before discussing solid-state devices.
