Electrolytic capacitors are polarized components that MUST be connected with correct polarity. Reversing the polarity will cause the capacitor to fail, potentially resulting in overheating, leakage of electrolyte, or rupture. Always verify the positive and negative terminals before connecting power. Look for polarity markings on both the capacitor body and the circuit board.

Purpose

Demonstrates RC circuit transient behavior through a visible flashing bulb. Students observe that an uncharged capacitor initially passes current (bulb flashes) but blocks DC once fully charged, connecting exponential charge/discharge theory to a tangible time-dependent process.
