RC Demonstrator
Safety Warnings
Warning: Polarity Warning for Electrolytic Capacitor
Purpose
Demonstrates RC circuit transient behavior through a visible flashing bulb. Students observe that an uncharged capacitor initially passes current (bulb flashes) but blocks DC once fully charged, connecting exponential charge/discharge theory to a tangible time-dependent process.
Figure 1:
The RC demonstrator board features a large electrolytic capacitor that charges and discharges through the circuit when the knife switch is operated, causing the bulb to flash and demonstrating transient current behavior in RC circuits.
