Induction Hemispheres
Purpose
Demonstrates that charge on a conductor resides entirely on its outer surface. A charged sphere is surrounded by conducting hemispheres; the proof plane and electroscope show the outer surface carries the same charge as the inner sphere, while the separated hemispheres have zero net charge.

Two brass hemispheres on ring stands can be brought together around the central brass sphere. The proof plane transfers charge samples to the projection electroscope for measurement.
