Maintain air pressure at 15 psi as specified. Excessive pressure can cause the projectile to overshoot or damage equipment. Always test-fire without a projectile first to verify pressure settings.

Ensure the catch box is properly positioned and that no one is standing in the trajectory path. The ball bearing, while small, travels at significant velocity.

Purpose

Demonstrates the independence of horizontal and vertical motion in projectile trajectories. A ball bearing is fired at an electromagnet-held target that drops the instant the gun fires — both fall at the same rate, so the projectile always hits the falling target.
