Spinning Whistler
Safety Warnings
Warning: Clear Demonstration Area
Purpose
A hollow metal cylinder with a longitudinal slit is spun on a string, producing a high-pitched whistle. Faster spinning raises the pitch, demonstrating the relationship between edge velocity and sound frequency.
