Gong
Purpose
Demonstrates how vibrational frequency depends on size in solid plates. Smaller gongs produce noticeably higher pitch, illustrating that \(f \propto 1/r^2\) for circular plates. The gongs do not produce well-defined tones, making them a useful contrast with harmonic instruments.
